On 9/11/15, the Collbran Job Corps student body and staff held an assembly for the 10th year in a row to commemorate the events of 9/11. Two students developed and presented a very moving power point telling of the events of that day. Everyone then went to the flagpole where the flag was raised, lowered, removed, folded and retired while Taps played and the center director explained the meaning of this ritual. A new flag was then raised. Dignitaries, all our veterans, fire crew and first responders were seated near the flagpole and several of them spoke about our country and that day.
All staff and students had ten names of victims to read aloud at allotted times. As the names were read off, the page of names was them placed on a wall. This visual impact plus the reading of names which takes several hours, is a moving tribute to that day.
