Kids Voting

Grand Mesa High School Principal, Gary Winkleblack; Gove Aker, Collbran Job Corps Center  Director; Rachel Nelson, GMHS Social Studies; Collbran Job Corps students; and Susan Nichols, Principal Teacher; paused for a photo at the Kids Voting Mesa County annual banquet. Collbran Job Corps students were honored for their efforts in raising money for sustainable organizations in Uganda. Job Corps’ drum line performed, and the drill team presented the colors along with singing the National Anthem. Kids Voting Mesa County is a nonpartisan, non-profit whose vision is to “build a strong community of engaged, responsible citizenry through early civic education, involvement, and voting. Students participate in monthly citizenship lessons and in a mock election every November.
