Due to financial reasons, Brittani Henderson (29) had to withdraw from Kent State University where she had completed two and a half years of college courses. Realizing she would not be able to return, Brittani enrolled in the Cleveland Job Corps Center on September 10, 2013, to pursue a career as a Pharmacy Technician.
“If I had known when I finished high school that there was a free training program, I would have enrolled in Job Corps. I would have saved so much money and not have student loan debt,” explained Brittani.
Brittani worked at Cleveland’s Donald Martens and Son, a medical transportation company, during her enrollment at the Cleveland Job Corps. She stayed focused and graduated from the program on August 21, 2014, with her Pharmacy Technician, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and Health Issuance Portability and Accountability Act credentials. Brittani contributes her success to the staff for their encouragement and guidance in affording her the opportunity to succeed.
With the help of the Cleveland Job Corps staff, Brittani secured employment at Walgreens in November 2014. She continued working for Donald Martens and Son on the weekends during her employment at Walgreens. After maintaining three years of exceptional work ethic at both of her jobs, Brittani applied and was offered a Pharmacy Technician position at Northeast Ohio Neighborhood (NEON) Health Services.
