Our Business Community Liason Dept. (BCL) will be “Highlighting” our Security Dept. staff one by one. Encouraging them to “stay humble, work hard, be kind and talk to themselves like someone they LOVE…Inspiring them to greater efforts, enthusiasm and creativity in the performance of their daily duties that ensures our entire centers health and safety.
In a world of so much turmoil, and uncertainties, we need security staff to protect us. Asserts BCL Espada. Ensuring the health and safety of our student and staff body is not a task that can be taken lightly. And here at our Cleveland Job Corps Center, we want to recognize and applaud the value our security staff team brings into our daily 24/7 coverage. Provided “without missing a beat” observes Espada, to ensure we are all protected and safe. Wally Espada, Business Community Liaison relates that her day starts at or around 7:30 a.m. as she crosses the gates to enter into our center each morning. And in doing so, being greeted with a smile and words of encouragement by our security staff is what makes her day brighter. The positive energy is real. Recognizing that after an 8 hour shift on an overnight shift is grueling. Yet, to be greeted with a kind smile despite how tired they must be, is amazing to Ms. Espada, she says. Then, to watch the dynamics of the department as they engage daily, around the clock to ensure our safety, and the students safety is news worthy. That being said, the BCL Department, will be highlighting each and every one of our security staff team, weekly, starting today until we have highlighted each and every one of them. Please be on the lookout for this special edition of “Talk to yourself like someone you Love”… as Ms. Espada will be asking all security staff to write their own “Love thyself” story. Who they are. How they came to serve here at our center. We want to get to know them better. Through their own spoken/written LOVE language about themselves…
Meet Ms. Jewel Clark, Security Supervisor, who 23 years ago on Oct of 1998, as she remembers and narrates, “it is like it was just yesterday”. She says. ” I walked into my interview with the Social Development Manager office proudly, I will never forget her asking me, why I wanted to work at the Cleveland Job Corps Center? I replied “ I want to be apart of the reconstruction team for our youth” almost twenty four years later I still have that burning desire. I am the birth mother of one Daughter and one Son, and Three Grandchildren who are the joy of my life. I could write a book on the joys I have received working here at the Cleveland Job Corps Center. One day fifteen years ago I was preparing the students for their Christmas Holiday departure. I lost count of one of my students, I never will forget finding this young lady balled up in the fetal position crying cause she had nowhere to go, every inch of my heart wanted to take this kid home with me for the Holiday. Instead I started foster Children. I am one of the few parents that choose the Teens, and Teen Moms. I credit my special skills to CJCC. I must admit the best days on this center still and will always will be graduation Day. The highest level of service given is to another, Thank you CJCC for allowing me to be of service”. She emphasizes.
