Student finds a place of solace via community service at the EC Grows Community Gardens
God blessed her abundantly as she got ‘down to earth” at the EC Community Garden.
She experienced God’s presence in her heart. As each weed she pulled symbolized the weeding she did of the things that are strangling her own life. As she untangled ever so gently a weed that grows around the plants like a snake, she also felt how whatever had a hold of her life, her body, squeezing the life out of her, preventing her own growth potential…entangled around her, got pulled off of her entire being. Setting her free… Pulling weeds in the garden was so therapeutic for her. She said “Abuela”, “I found peace here” . “I was praying for a place of peace”. And “I have found it here”. In this garden”. She expressed with a smile on her face. As she got “down to earth”. By weeding and pulling all those weeds suffocating the plant, she understood and realized the fragile being ,”the plant” she was saving and helping to thrive was. ⚘ As we translated that into comparing the process with her own self, her own body and her own entire being.
Delicate and beautiful as the plant she was weeding. She felt the weeds pressuring her, lifted as gently as she lifted those weeds from the plants liberating them both, the plants and her; to reach their growth potential. Setting them free. ⚘
It was an amazing experience for her and for me to see God manifesting his love on her life thru her simply “getting down to earth” at the Garden.
