Exceptional Work Ethic and Proficiency

Cleveland Job Corps Center Clinical Medical Assistant graduate Jamesia Heath is employed at Cleveland Clinic. The twenty-two-year-old is a Medical Assistant in the Department of Infectious Disease. “I really love my job,” stated Jamesia. Impressed with Jamesia’s work ethic and proficiency, the Department of Infectious Disease supervisor contacted Cleveland Job Corps Center Clinical Medical Assistant Instructor Angela Laureano to recruit more students.

On January 13, 2020, Jamesia arrived at the Cleveland Job Corps Center. She worked diligently to obtain her Clinical Medical Assistant, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and Electronic Health Records credentials.

Accustomed to spending most of her time alone and dependent mainly on herself Jamesia initially found life at Job Corps challenging. Fortunately, the Cleveland Job Corps Center staff helped her discover that relying on others and asking for help is part of life and is essential to success.

Student Personnel Officer Jason Johnson, Business Community Liaison Melonie Harrell, and Clinical Medical Assistant Instructor Angela Laureano were the most influential staff during her stay. “Mr. Johnson is like a father figure to me,” said Jamesia.

Jamesia graduated from the Cleveland Job Corps Center on May 12, 2021. She plans to attend college in the future to further her education. Jamesia encourages everyone to be the lighthouse during someone’s stormy day.
