Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Celebrating his like, honoring his legacy…

In continued honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., may we all strive to live the legacy of Dr. King by promoting kindness, equity, and social justice today. Not only on the holiday proclaimed. Least we forget his legacy to “make a difference”, everyday. Hoping we all remembered to celebrate a “moment of silence”, yesterday in his honor. And today and everyday, live his legacy…”be kind” in all that you do and say.
Touched by an email received from Dr. Michael L. Lomax, Ph.D.
President and CEO of the UNCF (United Negro College Fund) I was inspired to share his words in Celebrating Dr. King’s life of service, that he titled:
“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?” Lomax said to me:
“Dear Wally,
As I reflect on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I find myself thinking deeply about his work and his tremendous sacrifice for all Americans.
He encouraged us to think about what he considered to be life’s most persistent question and posted that it is “what are you doing for others?” It is a question that asks us to consider service to our families, our communities, our nation and our world. Though our answers will likely be as varied as our infinitely different human experiences, the question helps us focus on what we do and how we live.
Dr. King showed us the power and impact of sincere service; service that put his life and beliefs on the line for the goal of equality for all people. He left us a roadmap for true service and a clear vision to achievable goals.
His vision and our mission dovetail because UNCF envisions a nation where all Americans have equal access to a college education that prepares them for rich intellectual lives, competitive and fulfilling careers, engaged citizenship and service in our communities and our nation”. Lomax affirmed.
Thank you for joining in our mission because “A mind is a terrible thing to waste.” Lomax concludes.
And I was touched deeply and profoundly realizing that here at our Cleveland Job Corps Center (CJCC), our mission dovetails with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s., vision as well.
Like minds…May be an image of text that says 'I LOVE THE SMELL OF POSSIBILITY IN THE MORNING'
