Motivated by her younger sister, who was misbehaving in high school, Precious Chavis decided to demonstrate positive actions to her little sister. She believed that since her sister and she are close in age, her doing something productive with her life – perhaps her sister would too. Ms. Chavis arrived at the Cleveland Job Corps Center on July 5, 2016, from Richmond Heights, Ohio. The nineteen-year-old Richmond Heights High School graduate also obtained a Home Health certification from Sigma Solution.
Ms. Chavis comes from a family line of healthcare profession-al; her mother is a nurse practitioner, her older sister is a nurse, and her grandmoth-er (a CJCC Alumni) has been employed as a healthcare professional for many years. Although there were other allied health trades to choose from, she felt that nursing was in her blood, so she chose the Nursing Assistant trade.
After passing the state exam on September 30, 2016, Ms. Chavis received a paid Work Based Learning assignment at Collinwood Daycare Academy as an infant room teach-er. Ms. Chavis completed the CJCC program this month and is now a full-time em-ployee at Collinwood Daycare Academy. “My family is so proud,” exclaimed Ms. Chavis.
