CLEVELAND JOB CORPS TRI-C ATA GUEST SPEAKER

Cuyahoga Community College Co-ordinator – Advanced Technology Academy Alyssa L. Payton, M.Ed. visited each Health Cluster trade classroom at the Cleveland Job Corps Center on July 19, 2016. Ms. Payton spoke with the students about Cuya-hoga Community College’s Advanced Technology Academy (ATA) and gave out program information. According to their website, ATA is a comprehensive work-force program designed to prepare out-of-school youth for well-paying employ-ment in a technology-related field, and/or more advanced post-secondary training. The goal of the program is to empower young adults to see their potential and train for employment success. ATA prepares students for job opportunities in high de-mand careers through classroom instruction, and paid internships with local em-ployers. Students are considered for full-time employment at the end of their in-ternship. Most programs are 16 weeks or less, and include job readiness skills training. Students who are eligible for ATA receive tuition, books, supplies and support services at no cost. “Students were very receptive to the information given and motivated to learn more about the program,” stated Health Cluster Manager Kylene Jennings.
