“If I had not come to the Cleveland Job Corps Center, I would probably be homeless,” acknowledged Eddie Dunlap. “Now I am considering a multitude of options because of the opportunities that Job Corps has provided me.” Before enrolling in Job Corps, Eddie was constantly between jobs and felt that his life wasn’t what he wanted it to be.
On January 7, 2018, Eddie walked through the gates of the Cleveland Job Corps Center. Motivated to succeed, Eddie completed both the Bricklaying and Carpentry career technical training programs. He also earned High Performance Insulation Professional, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10, Potter Actuated Tools, Forklift and Green Awareness Safety certifications.
Eddie served as President, Secretary and Treasurer of SGA from 2018-2019. He worked very hard to help improve the culture of the Center. Eddie even ran the Anima Club to help the students stay out of trouble during their downtime.
Eddie is currently working for Millennia Hospitality Group Rehabbing the Statler Hotel in Cleveland. He plans to either join the Bricklaying Union or the Carpentry Union. Eddie hasn’t decided which Union to join, because he really enjoys both trades. “When opportunities for success are offered to you, you have to be ready to grab it and do your very best with the opportunity,” advises Eddie.
