“Job Corps is not to be considered an alternative to college, but a valuable resource to the young men and women who need a year or two to change their environment, attitude and their future,” expressed Jordan Ussery.

Moving back in with his parents forced Jordan to re-evaluate his life choices. After his father discussed the Job Corps program with him, Jordan researched it and found it to be an ideal fit for his interest and needs. After enrolling on May 1, 2017, he began establishing goals and took the time to write them down. Jordan earned his High School Diploma from Penn Foster, in addition he obtained his Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Serve Safe, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, Phlebotomy Technician and Certified Electrocardiogram Technician credentials.

In October, Jordan will embark on a new journey with the United States Navy. The twenty-one-year-old will be studying to become a Sonar Technician. He feels that with the resources he received from the Cleveland Job Corps Center and resources he will receive from the United States Navy, will offer him with a bright future.
