Job Corps Providing The Tools To Succeed
Gregory was no stranger to hard work. Before attending the Cleveland Job Corps Center, he worked as a stocker for Buckeye Tools. To move forward in life, Gregory understood the need for a high school diploma. His plan, enroll in Job Corps, where he could get his high school diploma and career technical training.
After arriving at the Cleveland Job Corps Center on February 23, 2021, Gregory wasted no time obtaining his high school diploma from the Penn Foster program in four months. In a little under six months, he completed the Bricklayer Masonry program earning International Masonry Institute (IMI) Tool Users, IMI Chainsaw, National Center for Construction and Education Research (NCCER) Craft Training, Entry Level High Performance Insulation Professionals (HPIP), Illinois Tools Works (ITW) Ramset Actuated Power Tools, IMI Scaffold User, Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) 10 and IMI Green Building Sustainability certifications.
“I have great admiration for my residential counselors; they always gave me good advice and encouraged me,” said Gregory. “My instructors were always there too willing to listen.”
Gregory said he is thankful for his Union Job as a 1st year Apprentice with L.M.R. Construction Company. He is also appreciative to be a part of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman Local 5. “Coming to Job Corps put me in the position to get a better job,” beamed Gregory. “It’s a place where you can come to get what you need to be successful!”
