Honor, Courage & Remembrance

Students and staff at the Cleveland Job Corps Center placed 100 American flags on the center’s lawn and constructed a message that read, “Honor, Courage and Remembrance” on the side of the Coit Road fence surrounding the center in commemoration of National Military Appreciation Month. The community demonstrated their support by honking horns, applauding, and waving as they passed by.

In 1999, Congress selected the month of May as National Military Appreciation Month to honor the sacrifices of those who are serving and those who have served. May contains several military holidays and events that recognize the many contributions of our Armed Forces including Loyalty Day, Memorial Day, Military Spouses Day, etc.

The call to serve is answered by many of our students after graduation. Please join us in honoring the following students for their courage to serve: Nicholas Hassel (Carpentry) February 17, 2020, U.S. Army – Welding & Machining; Shayna Rogers (Clinical Medical Assistant) November 10, 2019, U.S. Army – M1 Armor Crew Members; Isaiah Moore (State Tested Nursing Assistant) August 28, 2019, U.S. Army – Satellite Communications; Jirbril Gordon (Carpentry) July 1, 2019, U.S. Army Reserves – 91 B Mechanics. These young men and women serve as role models who overcame their barriers and strived for a better quality of life for themselves and well as their fellow countrymen.

It is a privilege to work alongside veterans and we would like to recognize the following employees: Building Construction Technology Instructor Michael Yager (U.S. Navy 18 yrs. and U.S. Air Force 10 yrs.), Accountant Lucinda Holder (U.S. Army 10 yrs. and Air National Guard 15 yrs.), Wellness Manager Ulanda Travis (U.S. Army 6 yrs.), Systems Administrator Kenneth Hardy (U.S. Army 6yrs), Security Officer Bobby Johnson (U.S. Navy 20 yrs.), Security Officer Christopher Croft (U.S. Army 2 yrs.), and Security Officer Spencer Sharp (U.S. Army 20 yrs.) for the services and sacrifices they have made for this country.

On behalf of the Cleveland Job Corps Center THANK YOU to our students, employees, and every man and woman who is serving and those who have served in the United States Armed Forces for your service, dedication, commitment, and sacrifices.
