On June 13, 2019, new Cleveland Job Corps Center Director Vivian Morrow welcomed over 50 attendees that included neighbors, community church representatives including Councilman Michael Polensek, Lincoln Electric, Manufacturing Works, Greater Collinwood, Ohio Guide Stone, CEOGC, Liberty Labor, Passages Connecting Fathers and Families, Cleveland Housing Court…
Ohio Means Jobs, Rid-All, Youth Opportunities Unlimited, Cuyahoga County Community College, Cleveland Electrical, Choices, Catholic Charities, Office of Councilman Basheer Jones, and ADECCO to the Center’s Community Relation Council meeting.
Ms. Morrow provided a presentation informing meeting attendees of her vision and plans for the center as well as sharing information on upcoming center events, activities and the new center training program in Manufacturing. Guests received lunch while they networked and discussed industry trends, the needs of the community, and their organizations. Several attendees were very excited to form partnerships with Job Corps to help students succeed and complete Work Based Learning hours.
Toward the end of the luncheon, Cleveland Job Corps Medical Assistant student Michael Reckner, shared with the audience his road to Job Corps. “I felt proud to share my story to show the true potential and skills that Job Corps has supplied me with,” stated Michael. He went on to say that a young lady stopped him and told him how inspiring it was to hear how Job Corps is changing lives.
