The Council for Economic Opportunities in Greater Cleveland (CEOGC) is pleased to be an active partner providing training for Cleveland Job Corps Cen-ter students since 2014. Students attend a CEOGC six-week Customer Service Training (CST) program at the George L. Forbes Early Learning Center in East Cleveland, Ohio. The CST curriculum includes online learning modules giving students in-depth knowledge and skills for working with customers in a range of industries.
Students are introduced to computer keyboarding and learn basic Microsoft Of-fice skills to use Word and Excel productivity software. The training is further enhanced by the services of the CEOGC job specialists who help the students improve their interviewing skills, prepare effective resumes, use job search techniques and learn to apply for jobs online. Upon completion of the six-week CST course, students earn the International Customer Service Association Cer-tification (ICSA).
The CEOGC training is provided by Adult Education Instructor Cathy Cherney, Job Readiness Specialist Cheria Benn and Job Placement Spe-cialist Frank DeSantis. Financial Literacy classes are taught by Karl Lutz through a partnership between CEOGC and AmeriCorps. The training that Cleveland Job Corps students receive from the staff at CEOGC is a notable piece in preparing them for the workforce. We look forward to continuing this valuable partnership.
