On March 20, 2020, the Cleveland Job Corps Center donated over 1,700 pounds of food to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank to help with the current COVID-19 pandemic.
The National Office of Job Corps issued a notice on March 16, 2020, instructing all Job Corps Centers to establish a spring break considering the recent COVID-19 concerns. Students were released that day to go home to their families and practice social distancing. This quick and mass exodus left the Center with tons of perishable food that had been just delivered.
“Your support ensures we can provide much-needed food to hungry families, children and seniors throughout our six-county service territory,” Greater Cleveland Food Bank. “We are incredibly grateful for your kind support and generosity.”
The Cleveland Job Corps Center and the Greater Cleveland Food Bank have a long-standing relationship. Staff and students volunteer at the food bank on a regular basis.
