Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) and Cleveland Job Corps Center (CJCC) completed a Memorandum of Understanding that will give CMSD students an opportunity to obtain career training in construction and healthcare at the CJCC.
The federally funded program is linked to “The Cleveland Plan’s Goals” of increasing college and workforce readiness by offering students the opportunity to learn vocational and/or technical skills.
Beginning January 2017, eligible seniors on track to graduate from Collinwood, East Tech, Ginn Academy, Glenville, John Adams and John F. Kennedy schools will be able to enroll in the CMSD and CJCC Dual Enrollment program. Seniors will attend morning classes at their respective school and career training at the CJCC in the afternoons.
The trainings is self-paced with an average completion rate of three to six months for healthcare, and six to nine months for construction. Students will receive benefits which include a bi-weekly stipend, basic medical care, and a stipend upon completion.
Eligible seniors can obtain program applications and further information through their school’s guidance counselor.
