The Cleveland Job Corps Center (CJCC) held their 7th Annual Staff vs. Students basketball game in the center’s recreation facility on March 28, 2017. Students used their speed and agility against more experienced and strategic opponents. Energy and excitement rang throughout the gymnasium as both spectating students and staff members cheered for every point scored. In the end, however, the more seasoned staff prevailed with a score of 68 -54. Staff members still hold the title and bragging rights for another year.
The game gave students and staff the opportunity to engage outside the classroom. It also brought the entire campus together as participants and spectators enjoyed an afternoon of camaraderie and an atmosphere of fun. “It was never about winning,” explained CJCC Social Development Director, Woody Allen. “It was more about staff and students bonding, both on and off the court, and the overall entertainment of the game.” Kudos to the CJCC cheerleaders and step team for their amazing halftime performance!
The CJCC basketball team will be participating in the Alternative Education League basketball tournament this year hosted by the Word Church. Our students won the league championship last year. Let’s wish them the best of luck again this year!
