NEWS, STORIES AND UPDATES FROM JOB CORPS CENTERS NATIONWIDE

Because it takes a Village…

Representing and wearing three hats, on Saturday “Abuela”, Cleveland Job Corps Business Community Liaison, and Rotarian for the Rotary Club of Cleveland. Our team was led by Marcia. An amazing leader and pillar in her community. Representing the Good Knights. And project  was overseen by another amazing leader, a CMHA representative. Our students, Marquan, Demetrius, Ryan and Jared showed up and showed out! We delivered and built 5 beds. This project was amazingly amazing! 100 beds were delivered and assembled by teams in 3 to 4 hours. Logistics were multiple. And teams worked all week on different stages of this project. For it to come into existence and bring a “good night sleep” for 100 kids here in Cuyahoga County. Lot’s of work, leadership, building team camaraderie, muscle power and coordination was made possible by a Village, that came together from near and far, from different walks of life and made it happen. Because we all believed and embraced the vision and mission of the Good Knights, in that “All Kids Deserve a Good Night”. Mission Accomplished. A mission of the heart. We will never forget the happiest scream of delight from a 9 year old running into her room and jumping on her new bed. Squealing words of appreciation with so much happiness on her Smiling face. . Her JOYFUL giggles showing so much gratitude. Memory forever ingrained in our hearts.
Because we embrace and also believe that “Every Child deserves a good night”. Our Cleveland Job Corps Center (CJCC) joined the Rotary Club of Cleveland who sponsored the Good Knights of Lorain County, founders of “Every Child deserves a good night”, on Saturday, 01/28/23 and together with the “movers & shakers” from the Shelly Company, Canada Steamship Lines, Independence Excavating, Ruoff Mortgage, Interlake Maritime Services, OSBORNE Concrete & Stone Co., DiGERONIMO Companies, FASTENAL CLIFFS, ROCK MACHINERY, AUSTIN POWDER, LYNDHURST Lumber, and kokosing Construction Company, Inc., hosted by LAFARGE delivered and assembled 100 beds in the homes of kids here in Cleveland. Mission accomplished. Because indeed, as the Good Knights say, EVERY CHILD DESERVES A GOOD NIGHT.  did our hearts  good.  Community Service, Civic engagement, Outreach, Networking occurred within an entire village
