Golfing On Center

The Cleveland Job Corps Golf Training Club has resumed. The club was created in 2018 by former Cleveland Job Corps trainees’ interest in learning the game of golf. The club is overseen by Math Instructor Robert Levey, Assistant Buyer Reginald Bryant, and Safety, Security, Transportation Manager David Wynne. They use the philosophies and protocols of golf to instill Job Corps Career Success Standards in club trainees.
Golf instruction includes etiquette, safety, guidelines, and basic swing procedure, including grip, posture, putting, club selection, and ball position. The golf club introduces golf basics for trainees to develop and expand their knowledge of the game. Additionally, they utilize various Job Corps Career Success Standards:
• Communications – utilizing appropriate language/terminology, listening, and following instructions.
• Workplace Relationships & Ethics – employing honesty and integrity in the game.
• Interpersonal Skills – exhibiting good sportsmanship and respecting the concentration levels of other players.
• Career & Personal Planning – applying effective time management and planning during the game to work within a reasonable timeframe and reach a goal.
Trainers and trainees are awaiting the removal of Job Corps COVID restrictions to visit local golf courses. All are welcome to join the Cleveland Job Corps Golf Training Club sessions are weekly on Thursdays from 4:45 pm to 5:30 pm behind the Recreation building.
