Toyota’s twelve year affiliation
with the UAW-LETC Program
at the Clearfield Job Corps
Center has been very beneficial.
This partnership provides
donations in the form of cars,
trucks, training aides and ongoing
consulting and curriculum
development. The partnership
also provides WorkBased-Learning
and placement
opportunities at Toyota
and Lexus dealerships in
Utah and throughout the United
States. Together, UAWLETC
and Toyota offer stateof-the-art
automotive instruction.
As of 2014, dealerships
employ over 700,000 technicians
annually to keep up with
demand. That demand translates
into opportunities and
job security for UAW-LETC
graduates. Toyota donated seven new cars, trucks and
SUV’s to UAW-LETC.
These vehicles are part of a
large fleet of vehicles used
for training.
Last month the U.S. Department
of Labor Office of
Apprenticeship announced
the UAW-LETC Diesel program
is a full-fledged apprenticeship
program. This
is one more credential, both
Automotive and Diesel students,
can obtain upon full
graduation.
UAW-LETC sent two students
and one staff to the
2015 New York International
Auto show. This visit coincided
with a national recruitment
effort to seek out
qualified Job Corps students
for the program.
