Tiffany Youngberg – A CJCC Success

When Tiffany Youngberg was in high school she had good grades. When she graduated she decided she wasn’t ready for college and decided to take time off. During that time she was diagnosed with a low-grade cervical cancer. She had multiple procedures and because of the amount of time it took for her to be healthy enough to go back to school, her chances for a scholarship had vanished and she couldn’t afford school on her own.

Tiffany decided to apply to Clearfield Job Corps after a cousin had told her about the college program Clearfield offered.

Tiffany applied and was accepted into Clearfield. She was on her way to getting life back on track, until shorty after arrival on campus, she learned her cancer had returned. “I was devastated but realized if I quit now that I may not have another chance so I kept going,” remembers Tiffany.

Tiffany kept working on getting into the college program even as she had more surgeries to remove the recurrence of her cancer. Shortly after starting college she was faced with personal adversity. Several close friends and family members passed away, all within a short period of time. Tiffany stuck with her opportunity through all of it when most may have given up.

“I took a few days off of school and my teachers were very understanding about the work I missed. Everyone was supportive during all of this,” recalls Tiffany about a very rough time in her life.

On December 9, 2011 Tiffany graduated from Weber State University via Clearfield’s college program with a Bachelors and nine days later on the the 18th was hired as Milieu Manager at Island View Clinic in Syracuse, Utah.

“It has been a very rough few years and even though I have another battle with cancer to overcome, things look bright for my future. I accomplished something that no one in my family has, a bachelor’s degree,” Tiffany says with a smile.
