Clearfield Job Corps Culinary arts students baked and delivered fresh cookies to the resident Veterans of the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home to say thanks and spend some time visiting with the residents. Cookies were given out at the weekly Wii Bowling tournament to help fuel the residents for the match. Several students took time to visit with more residents by delivering cookies room to room in each of the armed forces wings at the center. During their deliveries the students met a Marine Corps Veteran that had also spent time as a counselor at another Job Corps and returned their favor by sharing stories of his time working with Job Corps students.
Paula Taylor, Memory Care Activities Director for the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home says’ “Medicine doesn’t only come from the bottle, but the heart as well, we thank the students of Clearfield Job Corps and welcome them back anytime”.
Staff at Clearfield Job Corps also held a Veterans Appreciation luncheon for the 100 plus Veterans currently working on campus. Students delivered cookies to the luncheon as well as a commemorative poster for the Veterans to sign. The poster will be framed and displayed proudly in the campus cafeteria.
