CJCC’s Community Commitment
CJCC’s Community Commitment
Over the past few months, Clearfield Job Corps Center (CJCC) students have performed multiple community service projects for Heritage Park Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Roy, Utah. Heritage Park provides assisted living, dementia and Alzheimer’s care and medical rehabilitative services. Students and staff have helped beautify their sizeable outdoor areas and make a more pleasant environment for the residents and patients of Heritage Park. Students planted 1500 flowers during the month of May. CJCC student leaders even helped beautify two large courtyards used by the residents and patients and planted shrubs. Many residents of Heritage Park are wheelchair-bound and projects like these help them enjoy nature and the outdoors in a peaceful, safe and controlled setting.
Students also assisted in beautifying Island View Park, which is across the street from the center. They assisted the Clearfield City Parks and Recreation staff in laying down sod and making the area beautiful for nearby residents and students at the area elementary school. This project in particular taught them teamwork, as they worked in groups and helped one another to complete their assigned sections.
Community service projects like these provide valuable lessons to students, as they learn the importance of caring for their communities and the resources needed to upkeep a community. The students look forward to more projects that help others in the local area.
