For the June Safety Month there will be a CERT class offered at Clearfield Job Corps. The class will be for our students, staff and open to the public. The needed equipment is: a CERT backpack, gloves, helmet, goggles, dust mask and a CERT book. The staff and public will pay for the items before they are ordered, the CERT books will be provided for students and staff. If you want to order equipment yourself that is great or you can go to TCR-online.com to get the equipment needed. The instructors for the class are ones I have known for years and are the best.
The CERT program is sponsored by Homeland Security and is under the direction of the Fire Departments in UTAH and is a voluntary organization.
We would like to have at least 30 students participate in the class to be held on Center in the Management Conference Room in the Administration Building: The classes are as follows:
1. June 4th – Unit 1 – 6:30pm /9:30pm
2. June 6th – Unit 2 – 6:30pm /9:30pm
3. June 11th – Unit 3 – 6:30pm /9:30pm
4. June 13th – Unit 4 – 6:30pm /9:30pm
5. June 18th – Unit 5 – 6:30pm /9:30pm
6. June 20th – Unit 6 – 6:30pm /9:30pm
7. June 25th – Units 7 & 8 – 6:30pm /9:30pm
8. June 27th – MOCK Disaster and Graduation (To be announced)
Please come to the Safety Office Monday to get your CERT book.
There is several staff that wish to go through the class. There is a CERT website where the class can be done on the computer. Those that do the computer class can not be certified until they participate in a MOCK disaster any where in Utah with in a certain time frame. Please discuss your participation in attending the class or doing it on-line with your Supervisor or Manager. If there is no abjection please let me know in what way you will participate so you will be counted. It is understood that the staff participating will do so on their own time and expense, with exception of the CERT book. The disaster they choose to attend is not on Company time, nor there any reimbursement. The on line training is through FEMA. Gov. If a staff is a resident of Clearfield City than Clearfield City will give the CERT badges.
The more students and staff participating the better prepared our Center will be.
