Congresswoman Schmidt visits Cincinnati Job Corps for first time

On March 21, 2011, Congresswoman Jean Schmidt and her District Director, Gertrud Whitaker came to the Cincinnati Job Corps Center for a visit and a tour. This was the congresswoman’s first visit and she was very impressed with what she saw during the visit. The visit was a great success.

Since this was a special visit, the Community Relations Council meeting also took place.  Seventeen community partners and employers joined the congresswoman for lunch.  Each person introduced themselves and explained their association with the center.  After the introductions, the congresswoman stated that “anytime you help a young man or young woman, you get chips in heaven”.

After lunch, a tour was conducted to showcase each of the trades.  Although time was limited, Congresswoman Schmidt extended her visit in order to meet and greet the students in each of the trade areas.  She was very engaging and friendly to the students and staff members.  Several group pictures were taken in each trade.  This was a memorable visit for the congresswoman as well as the students and staff.
