Wed. April 17 was National Haiku Poetry Day. With this in mind, Ms. Jordan, CTT Literacy Teacher for Charleston Job Corps, decided to give the students a quick overview of the structure and art of Haiku and created a little contest for them. The contest was open to all students. While this was an opportunity for self-expression it was also a nice reminder to literacy students on how to use vocabulary and how syllables in words aid in creating that self-expression.Pictured are the winners of the contest from back row: Amir Abdul-Rahman, left to right: Margaret Kamara and Fredis Sorto.
