More than 25 Charleston Job Corps staff participated in the 3k walk along the Kanawha River in Charleston, WV, on Saturday, October, 31, in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. Although some staff was unable to participate in the walk, they shared their support by posting photos on social media via Instagram and Facebook with the hashtag #Rockitforthe Ribbon. All proceeds gathered will go to area community organizations that can then use these funds to provide for mammograms and other diagnostic services for local West Virginians who are in need. Charleston Job Corps center is participating in the “Misty Bennett’s Seeds of Hope” campaign as “Zena’s Warriors” This campaign and community outreach program was formed and named after West Virginia Breast Health Initiative’s co-founder Misty Bennett, who passed away in March of 2018 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. The “Misty Bennett’s Seeds of Hope” campaign uses fundraising dollars and plants “Seeds of Hope” in the amount of $5,000.00
