Charleston Job Corps Student Succes

Carlos Torre-Piris, a Charleston Job Corps student, enrolled in the program on July 27, 2021, hoping to find a career path.

Carlos chose to pursue the Medical Administration trade at Charleston through the center’s partnership with Ross Medical, which he completed on May 12, 2022.
Upon completion of Medical Administration, he was awarded a work-based learning position in the center’s Wellness facility, where he was able to use his newly acquired skills.

Carlos decided he wanted more specialized training and learned of other advanced training programs from his counselor and he decided to take advantage of those opportunities in order to expand his portfolio. He chose to pursue another career path in the airline industry through advanced training at Potomac Job Corps and was accepted to continue his studies.

Carlos left Charleston Job Corp on June 5, 2022, and is now enrolled in the flight attendant program in Washington, DC, with plans to advance his career in the aviation industry.

This is another example of how Job Corps works. Students are able to earn hands-on training, apply their skills in work base opportunities, and learn more than one career path as they go through the program.
