Charleston Job Corps graduate Petros Deressa saw Job Corps as an ideal opportunity to further his educationand job training and become acclimated to
American culture. Deressa had earned an accounting degree from Rifet Valley University in Ethiopia, and when he obtained a visa to come to the United
States for additional education, he chose Job Corps and the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning training program at Charleston Job Corps.
He completed HVAC in August 2018, earning top student honors and a certification in Universal EPA. Since then, Deressa has been putting that training
to good use with his job as a HVAC Technicial with Cyprus Air Heating and Cooling in Alexandria, VA.
for the past two years.
His future plans include returning to college and possibly joining the military when his citizenship is finalized. Regardless, he has Job Corps to thank for
a strong foundation in HVAC that has launched his career in the heating and cooling industry.
“Job Corps helped me gain independence, confidence and the knowledge of HVAC,” Deressa said. “I am truly appreciative for Job Corps. It has truly changed my life.”
