Charleston Job Corps Cares for our Community!!! From October 25th to November 10th, Charleston Job Corps held a can food drive and asked employees to donate at least three canned goods. A donation was made to the Salvation Army of Charleston, WV on November 12, 2021.
The growing need for food and shelter in the Kanawha Valley, inspired the center’s Business and Community Liaison, Nancy Shepherd, to plan this event. Shepherd says, “This is a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate to the community that Charleston Job Corps cares and is an integral part of the community.”
“This year has been marked by a great deal of uncertainty,” said Shepherd. The Charleston Job Corps has been unable to actively work in the community due to pandemic restrictions that have loomed over our day-to-day processes. However, it is believed that the can food drive is the best approach to help our community.
Charleston Job Corps chose the Salvation Army because of their long-term partnership. The Salvation Army’s mission of meeting human needs without discrimination allows assurance that each donation received, helps change lives for the better. Just knowing this donation will be a small part of meeting those needs, brings comfort.
Across the United States, the Salvation Army provides services to fight hunger, give warmth, housing services, fight natural disasters, youth encouragement, combat pandemic poverty, food pantries, summer camps, and job training.
