Charleston Job Corps Distance Learning for Students began May 11, 2019”
Charleston Job Corps began distance learning for our students in lieu of the COVID-19 pandemic. As of earlier this week, we have 116 students participating in an attempt to progress in their studies. Our goal is to obtain 100% participation of our active students during this time. Currently, the routine interaction between the instructor and the students is by email, phone or text.
The classrooms are conducted through Google Suite which enables classrooms to be monitored each training day and the participants in the classrooms are reported twice per day. The distance learning software tracks the student’s activity during their study activities. Training for Adult Basic Education (TABE) testing has not presumed at this time. However, students’ study activities allow them to accumulate hours, which will satisfy the pre-test study hours eligibility requirements.
At this time, the Academic class with the greatest student participation is Penn Foster in which students can obtain their high school Diploma
