The Recreation Department of the Charleston Job Corps Center operating under Horizons Youth Services held its annual Writer’s Conference, May 22, 2014 in the center gymnasium. This year’s conference was dedicated to former center director, Mr. Curtis Price who passed away May 2013. Tierah Williams, Recreation Advisor hosted the conference with various speakers including Ms. Judy Price widow of Curtis Price who spoke words of exhortation to the students and participants. Isis Hill, CJCC Student read a poem “The Reason Why I am here” followed by several workshops 1) Poetry Writing-Latasha Walters 2) Lyric Composition-James Carter 3) Rhythm & Rhymes-Jonathan Wesley 4) Instruments-Mr. Jason Jackson and 5) Playwriting-Tierah Williams.
