The Charleston Job Corps Center (CJCC) operated by Horizons Youth Services welcomed Pamela Dugan, Statewide Director, WV Promise-The Alliance for youth as a guest speaker during Monday Business Meeting, April 18, 2016. Dugan informed students and staff, “AmeriCorps provides several community service opportunities for youth including funding for college.” Dugan is a sponsor for the VISTA program focusing on education with children and youth.

According to the website www.nationalservice.org, “AmeriCorps engages more than 75,000 Americans in intensive service each year at nonprofits, schools, public agencies, and community and faith-based groups across the country. Since the program’s founding in 1994, more than 900,000 AmeriCorps members have contributed more than 1.2 billion hours in service across America while tackling pressing problems and mobilizing millions of volunteers for the organizations they serve.”
