Charleston Job Corps Center held its first What’s Up Wednesdays on Feb 6. Career Services created this event in order to allow students to further consider their career choices. Ron Rogillio Professor, Chair of Applied Technology, and Program Coordinator of Construction Management from Bridge Valley Career and Technical College presented information on the Welding Program during the event. Ron engaged students with his welding simulator which enabled students to practice and learn of the possibilities of welding. He also returned to the CTT-Trades to make another presentation to all enrolled in Charleston Job Corps’ hard trades. One advantage is for local business to see what the Job Corps program offers, what Charleston Job Corps is and how we may partner together in hopes of finding employment for our students. This event will be held monthly. Students are encouraged to participate, and learn of opportunities afforded them. This should help students in deciding what they would like to do after they have completed their trade.
