Charleston Job Corps Center recieves Community Recognition for Volunteerism-March 18, 2016

The Charleston Job Corps Center (CJCC) operated by Horizons Youth Services received recognition for volunteerism at Mary C. Snow West Side Elementary (MCSWSE) on Friday, March 18, 2016 by the Charleston Community and Family Development Corporation, CEO Ralph Miller who operates the after school enrichment program.

The Charleston Job Corps Center provides student volunteers for the after school enrichment program to mentor, play games, read, and monitor students. “CJCC believes in giving back to the community and the opportunity to serve students is highly encouraged” said business community liaison, Tia Welch. WCHS TV 8 interviewed community groups and organizations working with the school. Mrs. Welch was asked, “How important is it for your student to be working with students at MCSWSE?” Welch stated, “It is extremely important for our students to be here and show others they can achieve.” While attending the event, students helped hide eggs for the upcoming Easter Egg Hunt. Student volunteers included Shanequa Lewis, Jakia Harvey, Cody Glover and Marciela Perez accompanied by Tia Welch, BCL and Suzanne Washington, Counselor.
