Several members, guests, staff and students attended the luncheon and awards ceremony. Shanequa Lewis, Office Administration student called the meeting to order followed by Aquelay Frison, Carpentry student who lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Deputy Mayor, Rod Blackstone presented greetings on behalf of the City of Charleston. Marycaite Hoke, CJCC graduate gave an update on how Job Corps has helped change her life and set her on a path of success.
The awards ceremony began immediately after lunch. “Every year the center recognizes businesses, organizations and community partners of the local Job Corps Center. We are privileged to recognize the 2016 honorees” said Tia Welch, Business Community Liaison. The honorees include Charleston Police Dept. Community Services Division with Sgt. Paul Perdue accepting, Herbert Henderson Office of Minority Affairs with Dr. Carolyn Stuart, Executive Director accepting, Schoenbaum Family Enrichment Center with Loretta Jett Haddad, CEO/President accepting, WV Equal Employment Office with Jann Hoke, Director accepting and WV Human Rights Commission with Marshall Moss accepting the award. Center Director, Willie Brown provided some updates, congratulated the honorees and provided closing remarks. “We are always grateful for the community support of the Charleston Job Corps Center.”
