Charleston Job Corps Center Gets Hands On for Spring Clean-up!-Saturday, May 3, 2014

The Charleston Job Corps Center (CJCC) operating under Horizons Youth Services (HYS) participated in the West Side Neighborhood Association Spring Clean-up on Saturday, May 3rd from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. The clean-up covered the West Side Flats (Washington Street West-Kanawha Blvd & Patrick Street-Pennsylvania Avenue). Residents, church groups, businesses, organizations, scouts and all ages were invited to participate. Students Zack West, Melick Hall, Quanzell Burke and Maleke Davis represented the Charleston Job Corps Center.

Volunteers worked to make the area clean and litter free by hauling away large items, proper disposal of electronics, recycling items and donating to Habitat for Humanity under the direction of Pastor Ron Stoner, Emmanuel Baptist Church, Charleston, WV. Pastor Stoner says, “We are so glad to have them, they have worked hard and had positive attitudes.”
