Charleston Job Corps Center Boxing Student Deion Lee Wins Big!-Nov. 5, 2016

Deion Lee a native of Capital Heights, MD arrived at Charleston Job Corps Center on Sept. 14, 2016. He enrolled in the career technical trade of Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) and completed with full certification. Currently, he is enrolled in carpentry. Deion resides on the Gold-Phase Dorm and serves as President of the center’s S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Chapter, Youth-2-Youth (Y2Y) Ambassador for the Job Corps nationwide Y2Y Partners 4 Peace campaign against violence on centers and in the local community. Deion says, “I am a busy man, but I still make time for my passions.” His passion is serving the Lord and boxing.

Lee started “street boxing” a year ago in Maryland with various groups. He is self-trained and competes in Charleston and the surrounding area. He is very appreciative of his boxing coach Tom Davenport and the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center for helping fuel his passion. Since arriving in Charleston, Lee has competed in two registered fights with a 2-0 win and several unregistered fights-All wins! His last fight on Nov. 5 garnered him a win and title belt for “Amateur Boxing Champion” at Glenville State College.
