Students at CJCC receive training in employability skills and career success standards to increase their marketability in the workforce. All career technical training students have the opportunity to participate in community service and trade related projects. Cherry joined fellow carpentry students to aid victims in the WV Floods, June 2016. The trade removed unusable furniture and cleaned a residential home in the Clendenin area.
Cherry has been accepted to the Transportation Communications Union (TCU), the centers advanced training program at the St. Louis Job Corps Center, St. Louis MS. He will pursue studies in the welding industry. He is the first student to participate in this advanced training at the Job Corps in St. Louis. His future plans include becoming a railroad mechanic and living life to the fullest. His words of wisdom to current and future Job Corps students, “Do what you have to do, to be successful.”
