Willie Brown, Center Director and Tia Welch, Business Community Liaison attended the 2015 National Job Corps Association (NJCA) Leadership Summit, Monday, Nov. 2- Wednesday, November 4 at the Washington Court Hotel, Washington DC. The meeting kicked off Monday morning with a Welcome/Overview from Richard Schubert, Chairman, NJCA and Lonnie Taylor, President & CEO, NJCA. Student safety and Campus Security was a strong focus by Lenita Jacobs-Simmons, National Director, Office of Job Corps. Additional presentations included Center Leadership and Culture, Employer Expectations and Job Corps for the Future.
Nov. 3 was set aside for Congressional Education and Outreach on Capitol Hill. Willie Brown and Tia Welch met with all five WV Representative offices and congressional members Senator Shelley Moore Capito and Congressmen Alex Mooney and Evan Jenkins. The meeting concluded on Wednesday, Nov. 4 with Update on PRH Modernization and WIOA Implementation and WIOA RFP.
