Charleston Job Corps Center attends KISRA Conference-Sept. 18, 2015

Kanawha Institute for Social Research & Action (KISRA) held its annual Strengthening Families Conference on Friday, September 18, 2015 at the Embassy Suites, Charleston WV. Students Jerri Rowe, SGA Secretary and Uchenna “Tony” Ike, SGA Vice-President were accompanied by Tia Welch, BCL.

The conference opened with a panel discussion followed by workshops. Workshop topics included becoming a better leader, mental health, emotional wellness, breaking chains, race matters and more. The keynote speaker was William Kellibrew IV, WCK Consulting, LLC Principal who shared his story and personal experience from tragedy to victory. A job fair was also held during the conference with community and technical colleges and employers looking to fill open positions.

Through the program areas of Health, Employment, Asset Development and Learning, KISRA works to HEAL and strengthen families” under the leadership of Dr. Michelle Foster, CEO.
