Center hosts joint CRC, Workforce Council meeting
Center Director Alex Compton addresses the joint council meeting. Members of the Charleston Job Corps’ Community Relations and Workforce Councils met Alex Compton, the new center director, during a joint meeting held July 26 at the center.
Compton thanked the councils for their ongoing guidance and support of Charleston Job Corps and urged members to continue to share information about the program with area youth. The center is working to increase enrollment so it operates at full capacity. Members also discussed ways to encourage community youth to consider Job Corps as a roadmap to successful careers.
Charleston’s CTT Manager Dawnetta Courts gave an overview of the purpose of the Workforce Council and said the council will begin meeting by career technical training programs to discuss new market trends to the trade areas, observe program instruction and provide opportunities for future work-based learning and employment opportunities.
Council members attending included representatives of Senators Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore-Capito, who expressed their ongoing support of the Job Corps program.
