On March 5, 2010, Centennial Job Corps held a ground breaking ceremony for the “People’s Garden.” This is the on center community garden that was planned, coordinated, and developed by students of Centennial Job Corps. With the Under Secretary of Agriculture, Harris Sherman and several other dignitaries in the audience, this was a very symbolic day for the students here at Centennial. To make this garden possible, Centennial partnered with one of the local Community Garden Clubs (The Owhyee Garden Club) to help our students organize eight garden beds. In the spring/summer the students are planning to grow fresh produce that will be served in the dining hall when the vegetables become available.
