Students give the gift of life!

Staff and students from the Cassadaga Job Corps Academy are preparing to save lives throughout Western New York again!  The Academy has a long and successful history of working with the American Red Cross on blood drives and they are preparing for the next one scheduled for Friday January 27th.  At the most recent drive held on October 7th, the staff and students exceeded their goal and donated 69 units of blood at a time when the need is critical.  Almost 100 individuals registered to donate either whole blood and many registered to give double red cells.  As a result of this active partnership the American Red Cross has made a scholarship available for one CJCA graduate per year for the last three years.

At the upcoming drive the Academy will also partner with Be the Match Registry.  An organization that works to educate people on the need for and register new bone marrow donors.  This will present many students with an additional opportunity to have a tremendous impact on the life of someone else.

The drive will begin at 8:30AM and will accept donors up until 1:30Pm on Friday January 27, 2012, the public is welcome and encouraged to attend  to be screened as a potential bone marrow donor and donate blood!  For more information please contact Business and Community Liaison Adam Dolce at 716-595-4237.
