Cassadaga students build for a good cause!

Cassadaga NY- Staff and students of the Cassadaga Job Corps Academy helped to provide food for families in need throughout the Jamestown area on Saturday, but this was not your typical food drive.   Before making the donation the cans were assmebled into a replica of the American flag as part of a special CAN-struction event sponsored by the local area Methodist churches.  Several area churches, agencies and groups gathered to assemble thier concepts which ranged from a box of crayons to Noah’s ark.  All of the food recieved as part of the event will be donated to food pantries in Jamestown to help stock the shelves coming in to the high demand holiday season.  The Center’s Student Government Association purchased many of the canned goods but also spent a day collecting donations at the Cassadaga Shur-Fine Market.  In addition to the collections made by the SGA, Cassadaga staff and members of the Community Relations Council also made generous donations to provide the building material needed to assemble the structure.  Business and Community Liaison Adam Dolce worked with students to get the donations and the build day team was led up by Recreation Manager Pat Stivers and SGA Advisor Leah Marsala-Chase.   For more information about this event please visit the website of the Jamestown Post-Journal.
