Job Corps Student Success Story: Melodie L.
Before Job Corps Melodie was told by her father that she’d be lucky to make it through high school. During her senior year, she lived in a motel for 6 months, lived in a residence with heroin addicts, and then a 27 foot trailer with four other people.
She knew that she wanted to continue her education and that Job Corps provided her with the most opportunities. While enrolled in the program she completed Medical Assisting, (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant and Certified Medical Administrative Assistant) and received numerous awards including student of the month and work-based learning student of the month.
She has been accepted into the National Technical Honor Society and is currently enrolled at Skagit Valley College through the ACT program. Melodie was recently chosen as MTC’s Scholar Of The Year.
She hopes to one day continue her education at Akron University to become a Registered Nurse.
