On September 2nd, U.S Representative Rick Larsen was able to break away from an extremely busy schedule of appearances to stop in and see how things are going at Cascades Job Corps.
As a long time supporter, and member of the Friends of Job Corps Caucus, Congressman Larsen and his staff have always expressed their commitment to the success of our program.
While on center, he spoke with Programs Director Jennifer Logan and BCL Brian Hurst about the pilot program for Electronic Health Records that Cascades was selected for by the National Office, and also discussed “green” training components for the construction vocations and green certifications for instructors.
We explained to the Congressman how we are making changes to the curriculum by streamlining it into a modular system that will make it more in line with a college curriculum. He was also made aware of placement challenges due to the economic climate.
It was a brief but very productive conversation and as always he assured us that he will do whatever he can for Cascades and the Job Corps program!
