Cascades Students Roll Up Their Sleeves For Local Blood Drive

The second Cascades Job Corps blood drive in 2010 for Puget Sound Blood Center took place on October 28th. 76 units of blood were collected from 91 student and staff donors that benefited up to 228 patients.
Each weekday, 900 people must donate blood to meet the needs of patients in Western Washington hospitals. Cascades’ blood drive played an important role in helping meet that goal. Puget Sound Blood Center reported that in the days following Cascades’ and other drives, blood was available for many patients including a 17 year old motor vehicle collision patient, a 40 year old heart transplant patient, a 55 year old liver transplant patient, and a 62 year old patient requiring open heart surgery.
Cascades next blood drive is scheduled for April 14th 2011.
