Cascades Students Help Habitat for Humanity With Store Expansion

The Carpentry and Painting students from Cascades Job Corps recently began a joint project to help the local Habitat for Humanity store with a renovations project that will increase the store size by 5,000 sq. feet.

The Skagit Habitat for Humanity store opened in 2009 and has been so successful selling reused building supplies that it needs the expansion, to allow for more supplies including lumber, windows, paint, doors, and tile. It will make room for more furniture as well.

Proceeds from the store go toward Habitat for Humanity homes in Skagit County. The organization has built two homes this past year. The new addition to the store should be open by early March. A news story covering the student’s efforts was published in the Skagit Valley Herald in February.
